Books-A-Million Book Signing 11/17/09

After the successful book signing we had at Books-A-Million in October, we’re ready to do it again!!

Come join us on Novermber 27th, Black Friday, from 11-1 pm.

This time we even have a special treat for people purchasing a pawtographed copy of Bad to the Bone. We will be giving away a free Dogtronics toy to the first fifty people that purchase a book.

These toys rock, and Bo won’t play with anything of lesser quality or fun factor.

The store is located in Acworth, GA on Saturday. The store is located at 3372 Cobb Parkway in the Super Target plaza.

Loving Waste Management

Love, it’s a wonderful thing. Whether it’s the love of a brother or sister, the love of the lusty kind or the love of food…particularly garbage.

If pressed, I’d have to say that I heart garbage the most. I like the fact you never know what you’re going to get, that it fills my belly and most importantly, that it irritates my mother. That’s a three-for that I can’t turn down.

Funny! Funny!! FUNNY!!!

First off, I’m a dog lover. Always have been, always will be. That’s why I read every dog book that comes out. I just can’t help it.

I stumbled on this book while perusing the Amazon dog section and was quickly enticed by the premise of a dog writing his own memoir. After reading a few pages online I just had to get it.

The story follows Bo, a somewhat sarcastic chow/retriever mix, and his two parents over the span of fifteen years. It recounts all of their misadventures, which is standard fare in this genre (although there’s some doosies in this one!), but what sets this book apart is that the stories are from the dog’s point of view. We get to see/feel what Bo is thinking, and that makes this book special.

I don’t think I’m spoiling the ending by saying, unlike most dog books, our canine hero doesn’t die in the end. So you get to keep that $2.00 for a box of tissues in your bank account, and the emotional capital that goes along with it.

While reading this, I found myself startling my dogs from their afternoon naps with my fits of laughter. It really is funny, entertaining and heartwarming.

I can’t believe this book isn’t on the front table of every bookstore! It is well written, very humorous and a great read. Hole in One for Dog

I’ve received lots of email from readers that claim I’m too pro-dog, anti-cat biased.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

As evidence take my sister Mothball (please). Yes she of the feline variety, is a key member of the BoKnowsOnline leadership cabinet. She’s responsible for editing all cat related stories. In fact, she designed the cat-carrier for kittens.

In fact, she picked out today’s story, and it does nothing to make canines look good. It’s about Daisy, a hole in the wall and a rescue effort.

Chicks, Man

I love chicks.

You know, chicks as in females of the opposite sex.  Don’t get me wrong, I like baby chickens too. Especially with hot sauce.

Anyway, we all know that if you want to rough house it, you hang loose with a guy. If you want love and cuddling, your odds go up by having a female by your side.

This is nothing new. In fact it’s one of the unbreakable laws of the universe. Just like e=mc², so does female = unconditional love.

I know this, my sister Copper knows this, and a dog named Fox surely knows this. Check out his story.

Pickled Pigs Feet

“What a pig!”

I hear that expression a lot from my mother as we watch Dr. Phil from the safety of our couch. I don’t think she’s calling the good Dr. a pig, although I suspect he feeds at a trough.  She aims her sharp attack at the witless men on the TV screen who seem to have difficulty grasping the concept of fidelity.

Now I can say, “What a pig!” too, but for an entirely different reason. Check out this story.

Sheep Afraid of Wolf Poster

Sheep. They’ll do anything you tell them.

I lived near a herd of sheep at one time. When I barked once; they’d turn left. When I barked twice; they’d turn right. When I barked three times; they’d run out and get me the paper.

Turns out, they’re quite obedient if you resemble a canine.
