Don’t Bite The Hand That Feeds You

Bethany, our puppy mill girl who we adopted four months ago was having some food issues. Mostly she wouldn’t eat. She was extremely skinny so mom was pretty freaked out and started to try everything under the sun. Switched dog foods, added in special stuff (baby food, dog gravy, cheese, you name it), fed her under the bed where she feels safe, but nothing.
Finally after much love, patience, and many recipes mom got it right. Bethany started eating again. Mind you she doesn’t normally cook but will put more time into getting Bethany’s food ready than she will for dad. He asked her about it and her only reply was “Bethany is skinny.” Enough said.
Anyway, preparation goes something like this. Mom cooks up beef or turkey, sometimes a combo, to put on top of her special regular food. Before adding this she puts organic chicken broth on Bethany’s hard food and stirs it around. She then microwaves it for 15-20 seconds. After that she adds on the turkey and stirs everything around. To top it off she breaks up a peanut butter dog treat with a little peanut butter on top and then serves it to her. The afternoon meal will be in the living room and the evening meal will be under the bed.
Bethany has finally gained weight and her ribs no longer stick out. As a matter of fact when we were on our walk yesterday dad looked at Bethany and told mom “Baby got back.” Mission accomplished. That is all. Woof! -Kensy, The Dog
