diy-dog-treat-recipesWhile owning a pet dog can be very fun, it’s also a huge responsibility. One of the most important tasks for a dog owner is providing the dog with plenty of healthy food. However, as the nutritional value of most cheap commercial dog food is questionable, and high end nutritious dog food is expensive, it is a good idea, from time to time, to make something for your dog to eat all on your own.

If “do it yourself”dog food and treats is something you are interested in, then you are reading the article meant exactly for you. Here are three healthy DIY dog treat recipes that I’m sure your dog will love.

1. Easy DIY Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats

Now, that the mixture is ready, all that’s left to do is to form small biscuits out of the mixture and cook them in the oven for about 40 minutes. Let cool completely before giving to your dog.

2. Healthy Pumpkin Treats for Your Dog

Pumpkins are rich in vitamin A and contain high amounts of other valuable vitamins and nutrients. This next recipe brings pumpkins front and center and transforms them into a healthy snack for your dog.

Use a tablespoon to form small balls out of the mixture, and cook them for about 30 minutes. Cool completely before giving them to your dog.

3. Easy Doggy Biscuits

Last but not least, check out this easy recipe for doggy biscuits.

What You’ll Need to Make Easy Doggy Biscuits:

  • 2 cups of oat flour
  • 1 cup of cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt

How to Cook Easy Doggy Biscuits:

To cook these easy doggy biscuits, you need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. To prepare the mixture, mix the oat flour with cornmeal and salt (make sure you don’t use more than 1/2 teaspoons of salt as a good amount of salt would be poisonous to a dog to eat). Now, add the rest of the ingredients and stir till you get a fine mixture.

Use a tablespoon to portion the mixture and form biscuits out of it. Place a tablespoon of the mixture on the oven pan and flatten the mixture. Cook the biscuits for about 20 minutes. Cool completely.

A dog’s diet should be well-rounded with plenty of healthy and safe options. While many store-bought dog foods can deliver adequate nutrition, it is always smart to occasionally take on the task for preparing your dog’s food yourself. I’m sure your dog will thoroughly enjoy these treat recipes and with how simple they are, I’m sure you’ll enjoy making them too.
