Funniest Book I Ever Read
May 21, 2010 | Hmmm...No Comments Yet
I love reading reviews that love me.
Especially the ones where I don’t even give a paw for the virtual pat on the head. You’d think with all the love and attention I get from my folks I wouldn’t need that reassurance, but I do. Truth be told, I’m still an insecure little pup at heart.
That’s why I have to woof out a big thanks to all the folks out there that have written great reviews for my book. Woof, Woof! (Go ahead, put that in the Google Translate tool. Or if you don’t want to go to the trouble I’ll give you the answer: it says Thank You!!)

Modern Dog Magazine Review
December 16, 2009 | Hmmm...No Comments Yet
Modern Dog Magazine has included Bad to the Bone in their Connie’s Book Club must read list.
“Get honest, engaging, and hilarious insight into the inner life of a dog through the eyes of Bo, once a shelter-reject and now, a beloved family pet.
Bad to the Bone: Memoir of a Rebel Doggie Blogger (Citadel Press, 2009) draws on Bo’s experiences to paint a sympathetic, sweet, and kind portrait of an American family from the ground up, unfolding into an absorbing story of love, friendship, and loyalty.
Written in a voice strong enough to make it easy to forget that this book wasn’t actually written by a dog, this story brings humor and perspective to everyday life.
Very easy to read and hilarious! – Melissa Barr”
Needless to woof, but Bo loves his Modern Dog Magazine!!

The FUNNIEST book by a dog I ever read!!

The book Bad to the Bone: Memoir of a Rebel Doggie Blogger has to be one of the funniest and most original books I have ever read. Where else can you spend hours laughing at a sneak-peak before sending a friend/family doggie-lover one of the most unique gifts they will ever have? In that case, you may have to order two — one for you and one as a gift!
Written by a “one-time” reject shelter dog who has his own blog online now ([...]) which is also hilariously funny….Bo tells it as he sees it. Coming from the school of hard-knocks, Bo is adopted by the Hoefingers and teaches them to care for him …. properly! And when they end up moving to Georgia, their list of pros and cons did not have Bo’s name on it, nor his best cat friend, Moose.
“My parents never considered the vast amount of land in our backyard I’d be giving up or the clear alpa dog stature I had achieved in the neighborhood. Nor was the fact considered what effect the sultry Southern weather would have on an extremely hairy dog. Nope, none of that mattered. This decision was ALL about them.”
Instead, Bo’s mother goes to the store and rents the movie “Gone with the Wind” prior to going house-hunting after they had moved to Georgia…..I tell no lies. This was done in order to forewarn Bo about their new living quarters so he would not be disappointed about where they would soon be living. This is just one of the many side-splitting moments in the book!
Buying this book is a once in a lifetime gift for yourself or someone else, a pathway to sheer adventure and pure warm fun…. from a dog’s point of view! And if that doesn’t get to your heart, nothing will.
Bo really Does KNOW! This book is a keeper

When you buy this book, plan to read it in one sitting because you are not going to want to put it down.
It is funny, poignant, warm, insightful and full of sheer dogginess.
Bo, a mixed breed, wonderful creature will win your heart in the first few pages. You will want to give this dog a treat, and he will appreciate it if you do. ***SPOILER ALERT!!!!***** The best part of this book (STOP HERE IF YOU DON”T WANT A SPOILER) is that Bo is (shhhh) still alive…which means…he can write a sequel!
Get busy, Bobo, we want more!
Funny! Funny!! FUNNY!!!

First off, I’m a dog lover. Always have been, always will be. That’s why I read every dog book that comes out. I just can’t help it.
I stumbled on this book while perusing the Amazon dog section and was quickly enticed by the premise of a dog writing his own memoir. After reading a few pages online I just had to get it.
The story follows Bo, a somewhat sarcastic chow/retriever mix, and his two parents over the span of fifteen years. It recounts all of their misadventures, which is standard fare in this genre (although there’s some doosies in this one!), but what sets this book apart is that the stories are from the dog’s point of view. We get to see/feel what Bo is thinking, and that makes this book special.
I don’t think I’m spoiling the ending by saying, unlike most dog books, our canine hero doesn’t die in the end. So you get to keep that $2.00 for a box of tissues in your bank account, and the emotional capital that goes along with it.
While reading this, I found myself startling my dogs from their afternoon naps with my fits of laughter. It really is funny, entertaining and heartwarming.
Go get it now!

Finally published is a canines accurate perspective on things really are in our world!! This not your average run of the mill book. Very funny and creative. Had me howling for hours. Have your owners get this book so they have a better understanding of a canine’s thoughts. ….Way to go Bo… Can’t wait til a sequel comes out!!!!

Bow-Wow!, the free monthly newspaper for dog lovers on the Oregon and southwest Washington coast, has been keeping readers informed about dog-related events and activities since 2000. It’s entertaining, too, with regular features about dogs and their people.
In this month’s issue, rover reporter Gus Nevan gets his paws on a copy of my book. Since this was the first review of my book typeset on recycled trees, I was a bit nervous as I read along. Read more
